[Milipol 2021] Act in Black

ACTinBlack (ACT) is a leading developer and manufacturer specializing in Advanced Night Vision Optics based in Luxembourg. They are also a recognized researcher in the field of Night Vision Technologies and work together with the world’s leading sub-suppliers as well as recognized experts in Optical and Night Vision research. ACT is also the European distributor of the MTEK FLUX helmets and supplies these helmets only to governmental bodies.

ACT is mostly known for its DTNVS (Dual Tube Night Vision System) which is an Improved version of the DTNVG (Dual Tube Night Vision Goggle). The housing of the DTNVS is designed and manufactured by ACT. They utilized end-user feedback from U.S. and international military, SOF, and LE end-users. It is great to see more and more companies involving end-users in their development process, ensuring that end-users get what they need to so they can do what they need to do. Their DTNVS uses a single CR123 battery and provides a runtime of 25-35 hours thanks to the auto shut off when flipped up.

It was also interesting to see the Devtac Ronin Ballistic helmet which looks like a helmet straight out of the Mandalorian or the Book of Boba Fett, only less shiny and colorful and not made out of Beskar. I'm curious what the future beholds with regard to full face and head protection.

They also had a couple of MTEK Flux helmets. These helmets are a bit less common in Europe, besides the airsoft copies. The helmet is as light as it looks and has a bolt-less design. I will cover this helmet probably later this year.

At the end of the day, I was able to try one of their beer, which was an IPA. In general IPA's are not my favorite type of beer but this one was actually good.

I was looking forward to meeting their US team at SHOT show but unfortunately, I had to cancel my trip due to covid restrictions.
